Christian Adamek was a 15-year-old " kind, quirky" and, by all accounts, well-liked kid at Sparkman high school (Alabama) who was arrested for streaking through his school's football game on September 27th. On October 2nd, reportedly facing school expulsion and criminal charges—including potentially having to register as a sex offender—he hanged himself. Two days later he was dead.
One day before the hanging, his clearly-pissed-off principal gave some strong-worded quotes.
“Public lewdness and court consequences outside of school with the legal system, as well as the school consequences that the school system has set up.”
According to state laws, an indecent exposure conviction could require being named on the sex offenders registry. But it was not clear if Adamek faced such a consequence.
“These are pretty serious consequences,” Campbell said. “I don’t think they realize all the consequences that we talk about.”
Sparkman administrators also recommended that Adamek attend a hearing to determine what exact charges he would face. The Madison County school district disciplined Christian but did not comment on the extent. Officials did confirm he had not been in school since the incident and his sister intimated on Twitter that Christian was facing expulsion.
Christian Adamek died the morning of October 4th and a memorial service was held October 9th. Friends remembered him fondly as a "teenager who constantly asked questions and loved cookie dough."
The school district also passed along condolences.
The Madison County school district issued a very brief statement saying it had "received word that a Sparkman High School student has passed away."
"Our prayers and thoughts are with the family during this time of bereavement," the statement read.
