Ohio Wesleyan Basketball Player Crosses Street, Gets Hit By Cop Car

Caroline Welker, a junior wing at Ohio Wesleyan University, was hit by a Delaware, Ohio police officer driving to the scene of a disturbance in the early hours of Thanksgiving. Welker was in the crosswalk on Central Avenue when officer Mark Jackson turned onto Central and immediately collided with her. She went sprawling a good 10 feet across the ground after impact.

Welker, who notched her first career double-double the night before, is recovering and says she has a concussion and overall body soreness, but no broken bones. Jackson was charged with failure to yield.
