Aaron Harrison Strikes Again; Kentucky Goes To Final

HARRISON-THREE_2014-04-05

Holy shit, Aaron Harrison. With about five seconds left, Harrison buried another huge three-pointer to give Kentucky a 74-73 lead and a spot in the NCAA title game.

Kentucky went on a big run to start the second half, scoring 15 unanswered points to come back from a seven point deficit and go up by eight. Then Wisconsin countered with another run going up by as many as five, 67-62 with 5:31 to go. And then they were tied at 71 with one minute left in the game.

This has been Kentucky's MO all tournament. Maybe they're just too young to give a shit, but they would get down early and by the time the game was over, they were advancing. After that first run it felt like it was all playing out again in a runaway, but Wisconsin held on and made it a thoroughly entertaining slugfest.

It was back and forth for the rest of the game and with 15 seconds left, and the score still tied at 71, Badgers guard Traevon Jackson (travelling) pump faked Aaron's brother Andrew out of his shoes and got himself three free-throws. He missed the first, but made two of three, the last one touching every last bit of iron before going in. Wisconsin was up 73-71. That miss, though.

On the next possession Aaron Harrison stone-cold killed it. Recalling the end of the Michigan game, with 5.7 seconds left and a defender in his face, he buried a three to put Kentucky up one, 74-73 and now the No. 8 seed Wildcats goes on to play to the No. 7 seed UConn.
