We all knew that Donald Sterling was a racist and an overall horrible human being. So TMZ's lurid audio of the Los Angeles Clippers owner enraged about his girlfriend taking photos with black people shouldn't really surprise you if you've been paying any attention. And yet, the audio is shocking—maybe because it's 2014, and this man is still allowed to own an NBA team. [Update: We've obtained an extended version of the TMZ clip, featuring a cameo from Matt Kemp and Sterling's defense that he generously feeds and clothes his players.]
Magic Johnson's even involved—Sterling bans his girlfriend V. Stiviano from bringing the Hall of Famer to Clippers games, because Johnson is black. The argument, we're told, started over an Instagram photo a few weeks ago.
Stiviano's currently being sued by Donald Sterling's wife for, uh, sleeping with Donald Sterling, apparently.
Among the things Sterling appears to say on the tape: "It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you're associating with black people." And: "But why publicize it on the Instagram and why bring it to my games?"
Sterling also states that his girlfriend is free to sleep with black men, as long as she doesn't bring them to Clippers games (or appear with them on Instagram).
