Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has always walked a fine line between showman and dickbag. After infuriating Pierre Garçon to the point of hair-pulling, and dismissing his football worth entirely, I bet I could guess which side Garçon would come down on.
Garçon was held to two receptions on just three targets in last night's 27-17 Seattle win in Washington. (Sherman was far from infallible, leaving DeSean Jackson free for a 60-yard touchdown.) Afterward, Sherman had strong words for Garçon:
"Pierre doesn't matter in this league," Sherman said. Asked to clarify his comments, Sherman replied, "I mean exactly what I said."
That's harsh. Might something have happened during the game to turn the usually buoyant Sherman so mean-spirited?
Sherman confirmed that Garçon had yanked his dreadlocks, saying, "When you can't get open, you got to do whatever you can."
He then pronounced judgment on the entire other team:
"It should have been 45-10," Sherman told reporters in the visitors' locker room. "There was never a point where we were worried. I mean, we were in control."
This is actually a thaw in Sherman-'Skins relations. The last time he was here, he got punched in the face after the final whistle.
