Baylor running back Silas Nacita became a fan favorite last season when he earned a walk-on roster spot with the Bears after spending a year at community college. Nacita got into Baylor with an academic scholarship, and at the time of his enrollment, he was homeless. According to Nacita, he has now been declared ineligible by the NCAA for allowing a close family friend to put him up in an apartment.
Here's what Nacita had to say on his Twitter account:
There hasn't yet been any official word about Nacita's ineligibility from Baylor or the NCAA, but ESPN's David Smoak is reporting that the school will release an official statement before today's practice. I can't wait to see how they justify declaring a player ineligible because he wanted a place to live.
Update: The NCAA appears to be calling bullshit.
