Apparently MMA fighters Nick and Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov get so charged up by being in a fighting environment that they can’t help but seek out a scrap even if they aren’t on the card.
The Brothers Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov were all on hand at WSOF 22 in Vegas last night as a show of support to various friends who were actually supposed to fight. Right before the main event kicked off, the two groups had their first meting of the mitts with the beer-soaked scrum you see above. Here’s how that went down, according to MMAFighting.com:
“Nate went to Khabib and they just got talking,” World Series of Fighting vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz told MMAFighting.com. “They exchanged words and Nate threw a punch. I saw Nate throw a punch.”
The melee spilled into the stands until Nurmagomedov and Diaz were forcibly separated. Diaz was then escorted out of the area, but the furor resumed several minutes later, this time with Diaz’s older brother Nick throwing himself into the fray. Video captured by MMA Interviews shows the elder Diaz throwing a beer at Nurmagomedov, reigniting tensions before security and Abdel-Aziz are able to pull away the two parties.
That fight was broken up fairly quickly, but the shenanigans were far from over. Outside the arena, the two groups again got to brawling, with a folding chair replacing the beer as the projectile of choice:
The vice president of the WSOF made the most sense of anyone, basically asking the Diaz brothers to grow up. He’d prefer that any Diaz-Numagomedov rematch occur inside the cage. And no, being in the general vicinity of one isn’t close enough.
