Hell, yes. Here’s the trailer for season two of the Fox series Empire. And my, my, my, with Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) locked up, it seems like the tables have turned.
Last season, which ruled, began with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) finally getting out of jail, only to receive a not-so-warm welcome from her three sons and Lucious, who divorced her while she was in jail taking the fall for his transgressions. But it looks like Cookie is getting payback, and securing her rightful place at the helm of Empire Entertainment.
There was plenty of melodrama in the first season of the Lee Daniels series, and it looks like season two is keeping right in line with that. From what I can tell, there will only be more improptu-yet-coordinated performances in public places, sibling rivalry, betrayal, un-betrayal, and re-betrayal. You can also count on some catchy-ass music; some cameos from the likes of Mariah Carey, Oprah, and Ludacris; and a recurring role for Chris Rock. And new this season, auto-balancing skateboards:
The season premieres September 23.
