We already savaged the Rams for their role in the NFL’s least enjoyable game since this Week 1 debacle, but no one deserves to come out of that with dignity intact. The Jets, led by Bryce Petty in his first NFL start, were just as complicit, punting eight times and gaining just 17 first downs. You don’t want to watch this team again. The NFL knows.
It was announced today that the Chiefs-Broncos Week 12 game will be flexed into the Sunday Night Football slot on Nov. 27, replacing the previously scheduled Patriots-Jets.
This is a bit of a surprise, because the Patriots are not only one of the more fun teams to watch, but they’re among the NFL’s biggest draws. Last night’s Pats-Seahawks SNF game was the highest-rated national game since Pats-Cardinals in Week 1. Love them or hate them (or just want to watch well-played offensive football), people will tune in for New England.
But even the Patriots’ talent and emotional draw aren’t enough to drag up the lead weight that is the 3-7 Jets. Nor are the much larger New England and New York broadcast markets. The NFL believes you’d prefer Alex Smith and Trevor Siemian to Tom Brady and whoever-the-fuck, and the NFL is probably not wrong.
