I am literally in Tanzania right now on a safari that has changed my life, and in all sincerity every time we saw [an extremely rare] big cat it was amazing/substantial/impressive/humbling. Every time. Lions scare cheetahs, hyeanas, everyone. They are apex predators, like us. Better than us. I was lucky enough to see… Read more
I would bet heavily that there are fewer 135-pound professional women MMA’ers than there are female lugers, and while that’s not Rousey’s fault, her dominance gets way more attention than it deserves. Serena Williams is among the most underappreciated superstars in sports history. What she’s done and doing is amazing… Read more
I fucked up and clicked a hippo hunting video the other day. It was as sporting as shooting a dumpster. The killers giggled as they potshotted the poor motherfucker in the middle of a river. Moral: don't click on hippo hunting videos. Read more
Grew up hunting. Family ranch in south Texas, one of the first to actively manage whitetail deer as a herd starting in the 70s (thousands of pounds of formula-specific deer feed per week, curated oat fields, segregated populations, quota kills). The purpose of all of this was to engineer more bucks having bigger and… Read more
Some of you asked why Sacramento continues to put up with all of this KJ business. We’re a State Capitol City- meaning State Government is the more important game in town. So the stuff with KJ and city hall is backwater. The only state politicos- as in lobbyists, gubernatorial and legislative staffers, and other… Read more
To be clear, not all of us in Sacramento view the arena as a positive. It lost a popular vote a number of times, and our glorious mayor decided he knew better and pushed it along anyway. It was a shady deal that was driven by a greedy, lackluster NBA team that the majority of the city kinda didn’t care about. It was… Read more
I voted for this guy twice and probably would have voted for him a third time if he ran but after this there’s no fuckin way. Suing a news publication over critical coverage and using the NAACP to play interference? For shame KJ, you just squandered all the good will you had earned with me and others in this city.

That episode now threatens to blight the one thing about his mayoral reign that most townies agreed was a positive.

White guy here with a question for fellow readers: Are those cartoons racist? I see a startled nervous expression where she says “crazed and violent”, but I could very well be wrong. Read more
glad i dont live in america, even if the law existed here nothing would be done about it, the cop in the bar would have gone about his night enjoying himself not sitting their thinking “were gona get him tomorrow” such a scary place to live, a kid was recently shot in the chest and killed for opening the door holding… Read more
As a native and current resident of Sacramento, I have not been done proud by KJ’s actions over the years. Sexual harassment, slumlording, marrying a witch, and now suing our hometown (of which he is the fucking mayor). Nothing compares, though, to the time he cut me in line at a local ice cream shop. Every KJ article I read makes him less and less appealing. I should be careful what I type, however. I don’t want to get sued by him. Read more
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is suing his own city and a local reporter to prevent the release of his emails. But…
It’s too much detail to go into in this post (a book needs to be written on rotten Fairfax County law enforcement — the local news outlets don’t reveal nearly enough, though the Post does make some effort), but this fish stinks from the head. The county board basically rewards police who kill and they applaud the… Read more
JP: No, I am not related in any way to Natasha McKenna nor do I know anybody who is or anybody who knows her. That is a very fair question and I should have made sure that was clear. I did grow up in Fairfax County, however.
