I'm a criminal and administrative law buff and I'm confused as to why there is so little buzz about the DEA "shakedown" of NFL teams. Are people under-reacting, or am I overreacting, from your point of view as a sports journalist? This seems materially different from previous attempts to "police" team drug use and Read more

I've known Cosby as a shitbag since the late 90s. When I was a student at Temple University, Cosby was would often show up to football games. Because of how much money he gives the school, he was basically allowed an all-access pass to Vet stadium during the games. He traipsed all over the sidelines, even sometimes Read more

For future vasectomy recipients, don't do what I did, and go out drinking the instant you get your clothes back on.

I fail to see the difference, aside from Coates explaining away his transgressions with an admittedly well-written personal essay. Read more

Somehow, they managed not to end grammar forever.

The flaw is made deliberately. A good microcosm of this can be found in Colorado Spring's "City for Champions" project, where the inflated estimates, I'm sure, have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the mayor pushing this project was in turn pushed into office by a pair of developers who stand to benefit Read more

My son is 15 and suicidal. He had some concussions a couple of years back and has not been the same since. He has made three legitimate attempts in the past few months, been in and out of hospitals, on and off of all different types of medications. As dark as it may sound, I fear that it is not going to end well Read more

Amusingly enough, in small rural farming communities that have been known to have good groundwater, Coke likes to move their plants there. What happens over the next few years is fascinating. Basically, the Coke bottling plant begins to use up a huge portion of the groundwater faster than it replenishes, leading to Read more

I agree with the comment above. I played DIII in Sewanee's conference. However, I actually played DI before transferring to get a better education. DIII is much more than 60% of the time commitment of DI. I would say it was at least 80-90% if not more. You just don't have as nearly much pressure to watch film. I Read more

Sad to hear that's your takeaway. As a Sewanee football alum myself I too have years of student debt, a lifetime of football injuries, and no "Rudy" moments from going to Sewanee. But man, it was the time of my life. I encourage everyone who has the chance to attend this fine school to do so. The Sewanee experience is Read more

I'm a former player a Sewanee and attended this year's homecoming. This article is very good. I would also add the lack of minority players and how tough it is to get them on campus. Also noting the location and driving 40 minutes to Wal-Mart is hard to get use to. Often times I regret attending. After the spark of Read more

I got recruited by Sewanee to play football and went on an overnight visit there. The place looks like Hogwarts, and I drank Hpnotiq for the first (and last) time. I did not go to Sewanee. Read more
