R, either hand-coded or modifying code I've used for earlier visualizations. I typically put the basic elements together in R (axes & encoded data) and then adjust colors, labels, etc. in Adobe Illustrator. Trying to move away from this (I've known Illustrator for longer than I've known R). Read more

I think that would serve to highlight the pitchers that declined. That's the sort the thing I aim for sometimes, but in this case I don't want to give either the gainers or the decliners unequal weight. Read more
