Here in Tulsa we have a couple great breweries(Marshall Brewing Co., Prairie Artisan Ales and a mix of smaller guys). The local population could support one more brewery but the overall state pride in OK doesn’t keep us from spending our hard earned dollars on anything from the west side of the state making it Read more

In Indianapolis, there are at least 24 breweries within 10 miles of my house with more coming on-line all the time. I don’t see how this can be sustainable. Its great to get a variety of mostly good, fresh beer at relatively low prices, but it is a crowded, largely undifferentiated market. Bubble is coming. Read more

They’re not micro, but I’m going to call August Schell Brewing Company an essential American brewer because Grain Belt and Co. are so delicious. Read more

I have 2 Cats. 1 is all black. The other is a Maine Coon. They are social curious, which means they are confused about their social identities. I hope they rank highly on the Cat scale, they are both wonderful creatures. Read more

My cat’s the worst—he hates me, has disdain for all strangers, barks out the window at birds—and that makes him the best.

We carry this at the bar I work at in Michigan, and after all the metalheads bought one just to keep the bottle to display at home, haven’t sold a single one of them in four months. I tried one after work and reviewed it as “Well, the label’s kinda cool.” Read more

I’m going to be that guy, but a lot of your readers probably don’t know that some of the biggest universities, the Afflecks, the Damons and Elizabeth Warren do not actually hail from Boston, but from Cambridge. Read more

The Happy Sol is my first pick. I see it being my summer go-to if it’s available. And, yeah, the tent was nice even in the winter when I first went. Can’t wait to see the finished taproom. Read more

They just released a new lighter IPA called Fist City. Innuendo aside, it’s a remarkable summer-ish IPA. Lighter than Anti-Hero, which is my go-to IPA, but it doesn’t taste watery at all. More peachy than Anti-hero too - which to my palate, is a good thing. Read more

I’m from Texas, and my wife is from Kansas. My ex-wife is from Boston, if that tells you anything (Melrose, not Braintree). I moved to Boston for the first time 18 years ago. (Left briefly; came back.) People here are assholes. The weather is shit. The roads are worse. The traffic is a hammer to the nuts. The cost of Read more

Will, I’ll be drinking at Thornton’s before the Sox game, then at the Sox game, then at Au Tua Nua right after the Sox game, and then at The Burren in Somerville at an after race party for the people running for the Krystle Campbell Memorial fun. Stop by. Buy me a beer....I mean, I read your articles, it’s the least Read more

If you ever have the chance, take a visit to their production brewery on Kedzie Ave. in Chicago. Its a bit off the beaten path, especially if unfamiliar with the area, but its a very cool facility and they serve some interesting beers that aren't distributed. Their brewpub is a bit easier to get to but they don't Read more

I live up the street from their brewery and can confirm that all of their beer is excellent. Their "Eugene Porter" is amazing, which is no small feat considering most porter tastes like the ashes of a cremated dog. Read more
