A weird, pointless piece of MLB history was made last night in the Mets’ 3-2 win over Baltimore. Bartolo Colon became the first pitcher to beat one team as a member of seven different teams. That’s according to Elias, which could totally be making this up and no one would ever check.
Colon has now earned wins against the Orioles while pitching for the Indians, White Sox, Angels, Red Sox, Yankees, A’s, and Mets. But never mind that. Look, his helmet fell off again!
The best part of this video is how heartily Mets fans cheer their own pitcher striking out. But it’s easy to have fun when Colon is having such a terrific season, with a sub-1.000 WHIP and a sparkling 34/1 K/BB ratio, and also he’s large and old.
The Mets, despite having won just four of their last 11, still hold a four-game lead in the NL East.
