Boris Diaw Buzzer-Beat A Buzzer-Beater

Perhaps Boris Diaw left the country too soon, but it was hard not to be happy for the roly-poly polymath, ambling into the sunset with his ring, bound for better wine and pastries.

In September, after 16 seasons in the NBA, Diaw signed with Levallois Metropolitans, a team in the top French division LNB Pro A. It sounded like he was to fill an informal player-coach role for the young team. So far, the 35-year-old is averaging a typically well-rounded 14.8 points, 6.0 rebonds, and 4.0 passes décisives on his new squad, and he did something very fun Saturday. As a warning, the audio’s quite shrill:

Zachery Peacock, formerly of Georgia Tech and now with JL Bourg, hurled a deep, game-tying three, and with one second on the clock, dear Bobo calmly rattled one in from beyond half-court. He finished with 20/6/6 in an 85-82 win. Enjoy this one, and remember that Diaw’s deal leaves him outs for the NBA, on the off chance that an appealing offer comes his way. Who knows—maybe a desperate LeBron comes knocking in a few weeks, bottle of pinot in hand.
