Rookie tight end Jeff Heuerman, Denver’s third-round draft pick, will miss all of the 2015 season with a torn ACL.
Heuerman tore his knee up during this weekend’s rookie camp. The former Ohio State Buckeye suffered the injury during a special teams drill. According to the Broncos, he was running full speed down the middle of the field before making a cut and feeling his knee give way.
Heuerman seemed like he could be really useful in Denver. The Broncos are trying to replace departed tight end Julius Thomas in the offense this year, and Heuerman could’ve quickly endeared himself to Peyton Manning. Instead, he suffers the same fate as fellow 2015-draftee Dante Fowler, and Heuerman will have to spend his rookie season rehabbing his knee.
Just another example of how brutal football can be.
