Arizona head coach Bruce Arians is retiring after five seasons at the helm of the Cardinals and after 42 total years as a football coach.

Arians told assembled media in Glendale today he would miss the players and his assistants, but that “it’s been a great ride.” Arians came to Arizona in 2013 after serving as interim coach for the Colts; he had previously been head coach at Temple amidst numerous assistant gigs dating back to his graduation from Virginia Tech, where he remains the school’s record-holder for season rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

The Cardinals finished third in the NFC West with a 8-8 record this season; Arians ends his career as an NFL head coach with a 59–35–1 record.
