Bullets And Baseball

Notes on Saturday's games in Major League Baseball ...

Amazing Journey. After leaving runners on base in all but one inning, the Mets finally got their shit together when Lastings Milledge — that name again! — hit a two-out tiebreaking single late to send New York to a 2-1 victory over the Reds and give Tom Glavine his 298th career win. Which, if my math is correct, puts Tommy just fifteen shy of 300.

Pwned. Derek Lowe held Barry Bonds hitless as the Dodgers won their 10th straight game on Rafael Furcal's sac fly in the 12th inning. Bonds grounded out twice and struck out against Lowe, falling to 0-for-11 in his career against the right-hander. He's in his pumpkin-sized head, man.

Oh, Cheeky. Tony Graffanino's pinch-hit bloop single scored Geoff Jenkins from third in the 10th inning to give the Brewers the 2-1 win over the Rockies. Bloop. Great word.

Racing To 10,000 Wins. Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard and Aaron Rowand all homered as Philadelphia avoided its 10,000th loss (again) beating Leitch's Cardinals 10-4 yesterday. Still no word/pictures/police reports on how the Pants Party went.
