Cam Newton Has Lost Yogurt's Support

Because of his sexist remark in response to Charlotte Observer reporter Jourdan Rodrigue’s question, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has lost his sponsorship with some yogurt brand.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell reports that the yogurt will honor Newton’s contract, but pull advertising featuring the QB:

Michael Neuwirth, a spokesperson for Dannon, maker of the Oikos yogurt brand, said in a statement that the brand was “shocked and disheartened at the behavior and comments of Cam Newton towards [Charlotte Observer reporter] Jourdan Rodrigue, which we perceive as sexist and disparaging to all women.

“It is entirely inconsistent with our commitment to fostering equality and inclusion in every workplace. It’s simply not OK to belittle anyone based on gender. We have shared our concerns with Cam and will no longer work with him.”

While Newton handles a messy breakup from fermented milk, the reporter at the center of this is dealing with her own fiasco. In an effort to prove that Rodrigue couldn’t take Cam’s joke—it was a pretty gross and bullying joke!—someone pulled up her old tweets and presented them as proof that she’s a hypocrite. The second one is a quote from a stupid Bill Nye parody account:

Rodrigue apologized for her bad tweets:

This whole thing started because an adult couldn’t answer a simple question without putting down the inquirer’s gender and thinking the rest of the room would laugh along, and now everyone’s covered in shit and yogurt.
