Though the prospect of Charles Barkley improving at golf seems unlikely anyway, we can't let him get better. Watching Barkley swing a club is soothing to the soul.
This weekend, Barkley participated in Lake Tahoe's American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, and we were all better for it. At first, the former NBA big man goes with his regular wait-a-second drive, but after hesitating, he switches to a one-handed swing, a technique perfected by Bowser in Mario Golf.
Barkley recognizes that his limited ability doesn't mix well with the precision of golf, and yet he keeps playing anyway. It's admirable, and a bit crazy.
(In case you cared, Barkley finished last in the tournament.)
