Wow.
This was a game seven for the ages. A total back-and-forth affair from the start, the Clippers and Spurs delivered a classic today.
Chris Paul hit the game winner in an absolutely gutsy performance. Playing on mostly one leg for the whole game, he scored 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting, along with six assists. After the Spurs and Clips traded free throws down the stretch, Los Angeles had the ball with less than 10 seconds to go. Paul willed himself past Danny Green, and hit an insanely difficult bank shot from the right block.
It’s a damn shame for San Antonio to go out this way. Tim Duncan ended the series still on the top of his game, and now the future of him and this Spurs team could be radically different if Duncan and Manu Ginobili decide to retire.
It’s hard to ask for a game seven much better than this one. Especially if this turns out to be the last game from the Spurs as we know them, we’ll remember this night for a long damn time.
