Florida and Oklahoma appear poised for a showdown in the BCS Championship. Florida dazzled previously-undefeated Alabama with an array of offensive speed and play-calling, set against the backdrop of a tandem suckoff by Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson. Last night was the first time I've heard two old guys come simulaneously over a freaking slant route. Seriously, we get that you're the SEC network, but scale the league homerism (leaguerism?) back just a tad. Alabama's ill-conceived fake field goal and Javier Arenas' boneheaded kickoff return both resulted in touchdowns for the Gators, and Nick Saban's team will see three months of "unbeatenness" go for nearly naught.
• MORE COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Oklahoma 62, Missouri 21. The Sooners scored 21 points in the fourth quarter in hopes to erase any doubt that they belong in Miami. Chris Brown and Mossis Madu each ran for three touchdowns. Southern Cal 28, UCLA 7. The Bruins scored on a gadget double-pass early, and that was about Rick Neuheisel's squad could muster. Cincinnati 29, Hawaii 24 The Big East champs won on the big island; it's the Bearcats' first 11-win season ever. There will be some horse-punching in Clifton this weekend!
• COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Michigan 81, Duke 73. Michigan avenged an earlier loss against the Blue Devils in Madison Square Garden earlier this year. Wolverines G Manny Harris had 25 points; he was the only starter to finish in double figures. Davidson 72, NC State 67. Lebron James was there! Stephen Curry dropped 44 on the Wolfpack. No word on whether...on whether he threw any talcum powder in LeBron's general direction! Holy shit, I'm slipping.
