De'Aaron Fox Says In-N-Out Is "Just Not Good"

Kings rookie PG De’Aaron Fox was born in Louisiana, went to high school in Texas, college at Kentucky, and is settling in to his new life in Sacramento. And, as with anyone who goes to California for the first time, he’s been bombarded by locals’ boasts about a certain fast-food chain. He’s supremely unimpressed.

From Fox’s Q&A with Rolling Stone:

I heard you’re really into breakfast food. Have you found your favorite brunch spot in Sacramento yet?

Yeah, but I can’t tell you because then people are going to meet me there. All I gotta say, you can tell everybody that lives in the state of California this: In-N-Out is not good.

What’s your beef with In-N-Out Burger?

Their burgers are overrated. They’re OK.

Even Animal Style?

Yes. People always say, you haven’t tried this. You haven’t tried that. I’m like, “Yeah, I looked up the secret menu. I’ve tried it all. It’s just not good.”

Fox says his favorite fast-food joints are Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s, and that even Fatburger is better than In-N-Out. This may get him run out of the state on a rail, but I’m Team De’Aaron here. I’ve not had In-N-Out, but with all sincerity, how good could it possibly be? It’s a burger. I’m sure it’s fine. People out here rave about Shake Shack, and that’s also merely fine. Geographic fast-food exceptionalism is weak as hell and never stands up to scrutiny. De’Aaron Fox, speak your truth.
