Dead Letters: Sixers Beat Warriors Edition

SIXERS-WIN.mp4

This past Saturday, the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors blew a 24-point lead to the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, needing a last-second Harrison Barnes three-pointer to dispatch the Association’s most consistently-pathetic team. In a season full of Warriors blowout wins, allowing that kind of Sixers comeback is embarrassing—and we poked fun at Golden State with a tongue-in-cheek post titled “Sixers Beat Warriors 105-108.”

Despite what we thought were clear indications that the text of the post was in jest, several hundred readers felt the need to inform us that we were wrong. Most came as comments on the post; many came as angry tweets; a few dozen arrived in my inbox. Here are a few of those emails.

You’re a freaking idiot. The Warriors didn’t lose. Maybe you should get a job as a weatherman as they’re wrong all the time too.

Better double check the score. By the way, Harrison Barnes made the three pointer to win it. He’s a Warrior if you didn’t know.

The Warriors won by Barnes hitting the 3 with virtually no time on the clock. Thanks

So which is true. Did the warriors win or lose. Your story is contradictive.
