ESPN Writer Puts A Few "Motherfuckers" In Doug Baldwin's Mouth

Doug Baldwin's postgame rant at the media produced some great soundbites, but none quite as percussive as the ones quoted in this brief on-the-scene report from ESPN Seahawks writer Terry Blount, in which Baldwin is twice misquoted in a way that makes his outburst seem much more profane that it was.

Here's how a portion of Baldwin's rant was transcribed by Blount:

"At 16-0 at the half [Sunday], how many of you m——-f——— counted us out? How many of y'all doubted us?"

[...]

"It is indicative of our season," said Baldwin, who finished the game with six catches for 106 yards. "Y'all didn't want to believe in us. It's OK. We don't need you to believe. We're going to believe in ourselves. We ain't worried about you m——-f———. We are worried about ourselves.

The weird thing is this: If you watch the actual video of Baldwin going in on the media, both of the "motherfuckers" quoted above are actually "y'alls." Blount's transcription also includes a "motherfucker" earlier in the rant, but that portion wasn't caught on video, so at this point there's no way to confirm whether that's also a misquote.

So what gives? It's unlikely that Blount is up to anything truly nefarious here—it's probably easy to get carried away when furiously transcribing while a guy is yelling at you—but at least one person on Twitter has been alerting Blount to his misquotes, only to be blocked for his trouble:
