Finally, There Will Be Pro Wrestling On A Cruise Ship

Theme cruises are popular. The website Theme Cruise Finder lists more than 500 upcoming cruises, in categories ranging from comedy (there’s a Chris Tucker cruise next week) to History & World Affairs (there are two New York Times cruises coming up) to sports (the Dallas Cowboys Fans Cruise sets sail in February).

Musicians seem to be the most ubiquitous theme cruises. Kid Rock’s cruise will be on its ninth year next year. There are also upcoming cruises for fans of Kansas, Styx, the Warped Tour, Nick Jonas, Train, and even Elvis (though I assume the King won’t be making an appearance).

But there’s been a breakthrough announcement in the world of theme cruises today: Chris Jericho is holding a music and pro wrestling cruise, and there will be actual wrestling matches held onboard the ship.

Chris Jericho’s Rock and Wrestling Rager at Sea originally just looked like a musical version of the old WCW Bruise Cruise and the WWF Wrestle Vessel: Jericho’s band, Fozzy, and other groups would play, and cruisers would get to meet Jericho, Diamond Dallas Page, Mick Foley, Ricky Steamboat, Rey Mysterio, Raven, et cetera.

But today the cruise announced there will be a “Sea of Honor” tournament featuring Ring of Honor wrestlers on this Jericho cruise. Jim Ross will host it. Yes, there will be actual wrestling on a cruise ship in October of next year. Will the Young Bucks superkick someone into the ocean? We can only hope!
