The World Cup is a time to feel great pride for your country, to find an excuse to drink before noon, and to appreciate the athletic feats of some of the finest athletes on the planet. If you work at Getty Images, it is also a time to scope out hot babes in the stands and get all horned up.
Yesterday, Getty posted a gallery of images titled “World Cup 2018: The Sexiest Fans.” The chosen subhead for this particular collection of cheesecake shots was “Talk about a knockout round...” Classic!
After some backlash, Getty later decided that the gallery was bad, and deleted it. They issued the following apology:
Earlier, we published a piece, “World Cup 2018: The Sexiest Fans,” that did not meet our editorial standards. We regret the error and have removed the piece. There are many interesting stories to tell about the World Cup and we acknowledge this was not one of them.
A tough blow to all the people who rely on Getty Images to satisfy their urges, but probably the right decision.
