A five-time World's Strongest Man champion thinks his very specific skill set can translate to MMA. There's a reason he's never won the World's Smartest Man competition (no Polish jokes please).
Mariusz Pudzianowski will make his MMA debut tomorrow against fellow newbie and Pole, boxer Marcin "El Testesteron" Najman. And lest you think Pudzianowski can't do more than attack, this video indicates he's very proficient at dodging blows when his opponent announces them beforehand.
Check the four-minute mark. Dude's winded from throwing literally minutes of punches. That can't be a good sign.
Says Super Mariusz,
If Najman wants to exchange punches with me I wish him luck. I won't be as slow as an ox and I won't let him beat me up. My mother didn't raise me to be a bum. These hands can hurt; believe me."
On one hand, you've got professionally run organizations like UFC that bring a much-needed credibility and quality to the burgeoning sport of MMA. On the other hand there are backwoods like Poland and Alabama, who are content to put on freak shows and give casual fans something to laugh at. I'm torn as to which I enjoy more.
