Kansas predictably dismantled UAB last night, downing the Blazers 83-63 in the first round of an early-season tournament behind freshman star Josh Jackson’s first dominant performance of the young season. Jackson finished with 22 points, seven rebounds, and two souls: his, and UAB’s Tosin Mehinti.
While this wasn’t a case of glory-boy hustle while trailing by 96, Mehinti—the ambitious 6-foot-9 fellow who thought he could jump with Jackson—learned the same lesson: sometimes, watching from the floor is just fine. Jackson threw down a few times last night, and the final slam turned out to be too much for some Jayhawk fans to comprehend. One fan took the dunk particularly hard:
His friend has the right idea—be humble now, don’t get dunked on later. Kansas will take on Georgia in the semifinals tonight. May God have mercy on their Bulldog souls, because Jackson, most assuredly, will not.
