Australian Jeff Horn overcame four-to-one underdog odds and, uh, functioning eyeballs in defeating Manny Pacquiao by unanimous decision to seize the longtime champion’s WBO welterweight title.
Horn, despite being battered to the point of the fight referee attempting to stop the bout after a ninth round dominated by Pacquiao, won on one judge’s card 117-111. Horn landed few punches and appears to have been awarded rounds purely for the amount of blood he caused to pour from Pacquiao’s face from blows not originating from his fists but his own skull. That, or they simply rewarded his unchecked aggression—whether or not that actually resulted in landing the throws.
Boxing!
