Let's Check In With Bills Fans...Oh, One's On Fire

The dry-as-the-Gobi headline in the Buffalo News calls it “another typical Bills game day,” and let’s go to the video to see the totally normal tailgating activities:

Yes. Okay. That’s a good and smart thing to do. (If nothing else, let this put the lie to any claim that Bills fans wouldn’t waste beer to put out a man on fire.)

The Buffalo News reports on the myriad arrests and medical situations at the game, with more than 100 calls coming in to emergency services. My favorite is probably the couple who switched drivers to fool police after they allegedly struck another car in the parking lot, only for both of them to fail breathalyzers.

Police were investigating a two-car accident on Abbott Road at Southwestern Boulevard about 6:44 p.m., involving a male driver who struck a vehicle in a parking lot while backing up. The driver and his female passenger switched seats in the vehicle and tried to leave the scene when they were stopped by police, officers said.

Driver Louis J. Mueller, 32, of Blasdell was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, unsafe backing and driving in violation of restrictions. His blood alcohol content was 0.23, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08.

The second driver of the vehicle, Ashley R. Mejia, 26, of Blasdell, slightly less drunk than Mueller with a BAC of 0.19, also was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Both suspects were being held in lieu of bail.

Bills fans, if you are reading this (if you read): Please keep your drunkenness confined to the stadium and its environs, where the only person you are likely to hurt is yourself.
