Linebacker Zach Orr Retires Again

Former Ravens linebacker Zach Orr, who retired in January when doctors discovered he had a congenital spine condition, only to unretire in June, has retired again.

Orr made his officially official announcement in an essay published today over at the Players’ Tribune. He tries to clears up a lot of the confusion surrounding his decision to unretire—which was uncomfortable—before explaining that after conversations with more than half of the league’s teams, none was willing to risk giving him another chance.

“Because at the end of the day, my spine was too jacked up,” the post reads. “And no team wants to be the one that has a player die on the field.”
