Look At This Fucking Hoopster: "Kelly Tripucka" Hangs Out With San Antonio Spurs, Is Lead Singer Of Arcade Fire

An occasional feature in which we spotlight the ridiculous trend of recontextualized basketball jerseys. Today: everyone's favorite Polish-American Knicks color commentator Kelly Tripucka.

Just kidding, it's most likely Pete Maravich.

Player: Most Likely Pete Maravich
Team: 1976-1980 Jazz.
Ubiquity: Low to an absurd extent.
Scene: Looks suspiciously like the San Antonio Spurs training facility.
Unnecessarily Decimaled Score Out Of 10: This is the alpha and the omega, kids. 10.0, no question.
Analysis: "Pistol" Pete and the savior/destroyer of indie rock, joined at last. As we've covered before, Win Butler and the other members of Arcade Fire are basketball fans. But! Butler is from Houston, so A) that should be a Hakeem or Kenny Smith jersey and ii) Matt Bonner should be Chase Budinger. Then again, as Shoals pointed out, as far as we know, Budinger—unlike Bonner—does not read Gorilla Vs. Bear. That said, "Pistol" Pete is a legend and this is the equivalent of wearing a Wes Unseld Bullets jersey. However, as you can clearly see, that's a Champion replica, so Butler probably didn't drop 250 bones on it. Still, it probably says "Pistol" on the back and that is bad ass.
Verdict: Shoals wrote a whole thing about the tangling of indie rock and sports, so we know Butler's a basketball fan. Still, we shouldn't have to exclude people from this feature if there's proof that they actually like basketball, especially if they happen to be the lead singer of Arcade Fire.
