Melvin Gordon's Rushing Record Is Now Samaje Perine's Rushing Record

Poor Melvin Gordon ran through a stout defense last week for 408 yards, an all-time FBS record. The single-game FBS rushing champ got to wear that crown for a week.

And poor Samaje Perine. He broke Melvin Gordon's rushing record today, but won't be nearly as celebrated as Gordon because we just did this, and because Perine needed more carries and his record came against a softer Kansas defense. How does it feel like nobody wins when two guys just turned in all-time, otherworldly performances?

Just for comparison's sake:

Perine vs. Kansas: 34 carries, 427 yards, 5 TDs.
Gordon vs. Nebraska: 25 carries, 408 yards, 4 TDs.

I feel bad for not feeling better about this. If anything, it just feels like the value of rushing yards has plummeted.
