Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's head collided with teammate Jeff Taylor's knee tonight during a game in Houston, and Kidd-Gilchrist didn't get back up. As the announcers noted, his head didn't hit the floor when he fell, but it's hard not to fear the worst when a player leaves the court partly immobilized. As CBS Sports notes, "He did not open his eyes or signal to the crowd with his hands while exiting the court." It often feels like a given when players wave or give a salute in these situations—it sure is scary when they can't.
Kidd-Gilchrist, the second pick in this summer's draft and a member of Kentucky's 2012 national championship team, has started 43 of the Bobcats' 44 games. We'll update if any word on his condition comes down tonight.

The team said late Saturday night that Kidd-Gilchrist would be hospitalized overnight with a concussion. The X-rays and a CT scan were negative, the Bobcats said.
