Following an arrest last weekend on a charge of misdemeanor domestic assault, Michigan football has dismissed cornerback Nate Johnson from the team. Johnson was taken to jail early Sunday morning when police were called to an Ann Arbor dorm room to investigate an alleged assault of a female student.
Johnson, a sophomore, played in three games last year and had yet to see the field this year. He was indefinitely suspended following his arrest and officially dismissed on Tuesday. His pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11th.
The Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office denied a request for Johnson’s arrest report, writing, “Disclosure of the information you requested would deprive a person of the right to a fair trial.”
