Lexington police have arrested three men in Sunday morning’s shooting death of Trinity Gay, the 15-year-old daughter of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay, at a Cook Out restaurant.
Dvonta Middlebrooks, Chazerae Taylor, and D’Markeo Taylor were all arrested Sunday in connection with the ongoing investigation, according to the Lexington Police Department. The 21-year-old Middlebrooks was charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; the 38-year-old Chazerae and his 19-year-old son D’Markeo were each charged with wanton endangerment.
Police also reported they had recovered two cars that witnesses said were involved in the shooting.
Witnesses told police that there had been a shootout between two cars at the Cook Out at about 4 a.m. Gay, who WKYT reported was not in either car, was shot in the neck. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
