The rebranding of the Raptors charges onward. The team leaked a glimpse of this new logo in a TV spot released today, then briefly floated the color version to their Facebook page before taking it down.
Now the National Post's Eric Koreen confims that it will be the Raptors' primary logo, with bigger changes in store next season:
Just to confirm it's no hoax, MLSE filed for the trademark four days ago. And, yes, Drake was involved in the redesign.
There's no word on the color scheme, though the scant imagery seems to suggest black will be much more emphasized, with purple perhaps phased out altogether. That's a very good thing—few things scream "1990s" more than purple as a uniform color. (Or, say, the name "Raptors.")
