Report: Bucs WR Mike Williams Stabbed; Brother Is Suspect

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams is in a Tampa hospital after he was stabbed in the thigh while in his gated-community home in Avila. Police suspect his brother was responsible. There has been no word on the extent of his injury or his condition.

[Hillsborough County Sheriff's office spokeswoman] Cristal Bermudez Nunez says it happened Sunday afternoon and the football player's brother is suspected of stabbing him. Nunez is not releasing the brother's name at this time but says they are looking for him this evening.

The Buccaneers released a statement acknowledging that something happened, but not much else:

"We are aware of the situation that occurred at the residence of Mike Williams and are working with him and the authorities to get additional information. While we have limited knowledge at this time, our primary concern is for the safety and we'll being of all involved. We will refrain from further comment until we can get a better understanding of the situation."

Williams, who signed a six-year $40 million extension with the Bucs in July of 2013, has been in and out of legal trouble recently and faces charges related to damaging neighbor's property as well as trespass, and criminal mischief.
