Report: Someone Threw A Pint Of Milk At Jose Mourinho During City-United Dust-Up

Manchester City beat Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford yesterday, and apparently, as City were celebrating after the game in the visitors’ locker room, United manager Jose Mourinho took exception to some of the noise—which the visitors then took exception to in hilarious, milky fashion.

Unfortunately, there’s no video of the incident, but according to reports, a scuffle broke out after a peeved Mourinho told the victors to calm down. It didn’t last more than a couple of minutes, no one threw any punches, and Mourinho didn’t say anything about it in his post-match press conference, but afterwards, City assistant coach Mikel Arteta was bleeding from a cut on his face, and some British papers accused United’s Romelu Lukaku of causing the damage by launching a bottle at Arteta.

According to the BBC, however, some of the fighting was a little more slapstick:

A one-pint milk carton - which had been left in the City dressing room for tea and coffee - was thrown at Mourinho. The United manager did not get splattered but a member of his staff was.

With a lack of any clear evidence, it’s hard to say what, if any, discipline will come from this incident. For what it’s worth, though, Arsenal’s Cesc Fàbregas escaped any kind of conviction back in 2004, when he threw a pizza at then-United manager Alex Ferguson during a similar post-match fracas. Fàbregas didn’t even admit to it until 13 years later.
