In the men's cross country sprint finals, Russian skier Anton Gafarov broke his ski and gave us one of the sadder images we've seen so far as he hobbled across the course with his ski flapping around. It later caused him to completely wipe out. Then, at the end of the race, Russia's Sergey Ustiugov, Sweden's Marcus Hellner and Norway's Anders Gloeersen were involved in a three-way pileup at a troublesome corner on the course and Ustiugov got trucked over.
The crash left Ola Vigen Hattestad to scoop up the gold for Norway and kept the three men involved off the podium. Gloeersen, Ustiugov and Hellner finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Gafarov finished 12th.
