Seattle Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman was arrested by Bellevue police last night after he allegedly left the scene of a vehicular accident that reportedly left another driver with a broken collarbone. Below is a video shot at the crash scene, via KIRO 7:
The Seattle Times reports that Coleman, who was driving a Dodge pickup, struck a Honda Civic around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night. Police say Coleman exited his vehicle and left the scene, but was later arrested without incident. Coleman’s agent has released a statement, explaining that his client fell asleep at the wheel while driving home from the Seahawks’ facility. The full statement:
While the facts of the case are still being determined, it seems Derrick may have fallen asleep while driving home from a Seahawks’ facility. The health and well-being of all involved is our primary concern, and we are thankful to report that both parties are expected to make a full recovery. We will continue to work closely with the local officials while a full investigation is being conducted.
Coleman is currently being investigated for vehicular assault and hit and run, and the Seahawks have suspended him indefinitely.
