The Rams Took A Sledgehammer To Seattle In The First Half

In their first matchup of the season back in October, Seattle beat the L.A. Rams 16-10. Sean McVay’s team must have learned something since that encounter, because in the first half of today’s Rams-Seahawks game, Los Angeles pummeled Seattle off the field, shutting them out 34-0 at their own notoriously intimidating home stadium. It was the third-worst halftime deficit in Seahawks history, and only the seventh time post-merger that a home team trailed by that much at the break.

The Rams benefitted from two lost Seahawks fumbles and an absolutely porous Seattle run defense that let running back Todd Gurley gain 144 yards on 16 carries. L.A.’s own defensive line, meanwhile, got after Russell Wilson for four sacks, including a sack-fumble that went out of bounds for a total loss of 23 yards.

To put a neat bow on it all, Gurley took a third-and-20 handoff with 37 seconds left in the half and ran 57 yards for the score. It was already his third TD of the day.

Contrary to common sense, Seattle did come back out to play the second half. At least this is probably as bad as it can get.
