Right at the NFL trade deadline yesterday, the Jets acquired cornerback Rashard Robinson from the 49ers in exchange for a 2018 fifth-round pick. Also right at the NFL trade deadline yesterday, Jets head coach Todd Bowles held his daily press conference with reporters. Bowles wasn’t prepared to talk about the deal, because apparently he didn’t know about it.
Per ESPN, Bowles said at one point he didn’t anticipate the Jets making any trades. At the end of the presser, though, NJ.com’s Darryl Slater noticed that word of the Robinson deal had broken on Twitter, and he relayed the news to Bowles. Surprise!
