USF Football Player Charged With Felony Sexual Battery

A wide receiver with the South Florida Bulls has been arrested and charged with one count of felony sexual battery on a woman over the age of 18. Kevaughn Dingle, 18, was arrested on Friday and released from jail on bond the next day. Coach Charlie Strong said today that Dingle is suspended from the team, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The investigation began after police got a report at about 1 a.m. on Friday of a possible sexual battery on campus that had happened the day before, on Thursday, according to a police press release. According to the arrest report, Dingle “penetrated the victim’s vagina with his penis, without her voluntary consent.” The report doesn’t give much more information about what happened or the investigation, saying that Dingle and the woman knew each other and, “The defendant admitted [after being read his Miranda rights] that the victim repeatedly stated she did not want to have sex.”

Earlier this year, Bulls defensive end LaDarrius Jackson was released after he was arrested twice in less than two weeks on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment.
