When you're a football club in the English Premier League, you're not supposed to lose to teams freshly promoted from the minors. That's what the Wolverhampton Wolves with a 3-0 drubbing delivered by QPR in September. And that's what it looked like the Wolverhampton Wolves were about to do against Swansea City this morning.
Wolves fans were none too pleased with this, what with their boys teetering on the edge of potential relegation early in their long season. It boiled over in the 68th minute when coach Mick McCarthy substituted both of his teams wingers with the side down 2-0. Granted, the team showed not an inkling of offensive interest up till that point, but still they chanted "you don't know what you're doing" at poor ole Mick.
So what happened after some disgruntled fans made for the exits? The Wolves cut the lead to 2-1 in the 84th minute. Then, the Wolves tied the match in the 86th minute. The fans, they were cheering at this point, celebrating McCarthy and his boys. Those of them who didn't hastily run for the hills, of course.
